SUGAR SUPPLIES
CONSUMERS TO RE-REGISTER. PROCEDURE OUTLINED. The Food and Rationing Controller, Mr J. E. Thomas, announced today that during April opportunity would be given to all consumers to register again for their sugar supplies with any grocer in their district. Having done so, however, they would be required to remain registered with the same grocer for the currency of the present ration book. “Everyone must re-register when purchasing the April sugar ration and in any case not later than April 30,” said Mr. Thomas, “and no grocer maysupply a consumer with the April sugar allowance until this new registration has been effected.” Householders are instructed to write their name and address in block letters on the reverse side of the top of page 3, the sugar coupon page immediately above coupons Nos. 49/52. This has to be done with each ration book in the house. Ration books are’to be taken to the grocer from whom it is wished to purhacse sugar during the next six months and he will cut out the top part' of the sugar coupon sheet with the names and addresses on the back. Transfers of registrations after April 30 would not be permitted unless they were necessary on account of change of locality or the closing down of a retail establishment. Transfers necessary for these reasons would be effected as at present by the use of Form FR36. The attention of licensed retailers and establishments drawing supplies by wholesale is drawn to a notice appearing in this issue concerning sugar reregistration and they are requested to make themselves conversant with the procedure. /
