GERMAN INDUSTRY
CONTROL BY UNITED NATIONS AFTER WAR IN ORDER TO PREVENT REARMAMENT. ADVOCATED BY DUTCH AMBASSADOR. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.50 p.m.) WASHINGTON, March 28. The creation of an international trusteeship to take over post-war industries in Germany and other Axis nations, in order to prevent their rearming, is proposed by the Netherlands Ambassador, M Loudon, who said the heart of German problem was German industry, and the rendering of Germany’s war potential impotent, which could not be left to the Gorman people or Government. Therefore he proposed a trusteeship, controlling the majority of capital and stock in all established and new industries. The trustees to be United Nations statesmen and business men, the latter without connection with similar industries in their own countries. Representation on the board of trustees would be computed on the basis of the various United Nations claims against the Axis. The trustees would be empowered to market German products abroad, but the main policy was not primarily financial reimbursement but “the supervision of Axis industry, to prevent rearmament.” M. Louden added that when the Germans see defeat coming, they will attempt to organise sympathy. Individual Germans already are _ asking Dutchmen for certificates, stating that they behaved correctly.”
