ARMY JOB

FOR MAYOR OF NEW YORK. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) NEW YORK, March 27. President Roosevelt next week will order the Mayor of New York and United States Director of Civilian Defence, Mr La Guardia, to join the army with the commission of Brigadier-Gen-eral, says the “Daily News” Washington correspondent. He adds that the President’s order includes a suggestion to army doctors to “blink at whatever spavins, heaves or horse-collar sores the wild mayor may have, and pass him if he is only able to stand on his feet.” The “New York Post” speculates that Mr La Guardia may become Governor of occupied territory when the United States Army moves into Italy.
