WEDDING SUNKEL—HARDIE. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the Presbyterian Church last Saturday, Mary Dalrymple, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs T. G. Hardie, Featherston, was married to Selwyn Clive, younger son of Mr and Mrs F. Sunken, of Napier. The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked charming in a gown of ivory lace over slipper satin. Her tulle veil was held in place by a spray of orange blossom. She also wore a triple string of pearls. Her shower bouquet was composed of cream lilies and dahlias. The bridesmaid was Miss Jean Houston, whose frock was of green taffeta and lace. Her shower bouquet was of pink dahlias. The best man was Mr lan Waterson, of Carterton. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. H. Bloomfield, and Mrs A. Clark presided at the organ. The church was beautifully decorated by Mrs Tutbury. A reception was held in the Town Hall, where Mesdames Sunkel and Hardie received the guests. The former wore a black and white ensemble, and the latter a cyclamen and grey ensemble. Both carried posies to tone. When Mr and Mrs Sunkel left for the north, the bride wore a blue suit and hat, with a grey fur and grey accessories. ST. JOHN’S CHURCH
LADIES’ GUILD MEETING. ! The annual meeting of the St.. John’s Ladies’ Guild was held in the Vicarage yesterday, the Vicar of Featherston (the Rev. J. R. Higgs) presiding over a large attendance of members. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mrs Bloxam; vice-presidents, Mesdames Sharp, Wakely and R. W. Matthews; secretary, Mrs Feast; treasurer, Mrs Halpin. The annual report stated that an excellent year had been experienced. The balance sheet showed a credit balance of £4B. An address on the ideals of the Guild followed, given by the Rev. J. R. Higgs. The hostesses for the afternoon tea were Mesdames Sharp, Kilsby and Varnham. CROQUET COMPETITION WINNERS. The following were the winners of the competitions at the Featherston Croquet Club’s “honorary members’ day” gathering: Peg, Miss Roberts (Auckland); lucky spot, Miss Roberts; angles, Mrs Watson; golf, Mrs Wakely. In the final of the A championship of the Featherston Croquet Club Mrs Saunders beat Mrs O’Neale 26/24, 26/21. Personal. Mr and Mrs Moller and Mr and Mrs Kohn, of Wellington, are the guests of Mrs L. McKenna, Pahautea . COSY THEATRE “AFFECTIONATELY YOURS.” There will be presented tonight two big features—the brilliant comedy, “Affectionately Yours,” featuring Merle Oberon and Dennis Morgan, and “Singapore Woman,” a splendid drama with Brenda Marshall and David Bruce portraying the chief characters.
