CHILDREN’S COURT

SEVERAL OFFENDERS DEALT WITH. At a sitting of the Children’s Court in Masterton this morning Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M., dealt with a number of cases. Two boys were charged with the destruction of a building valued at £lO. One was convicted and discharged and one was admonished and discharged. They were ordered to pay the cost of the building. On charges of car conversion, theft, and escaping from custody, a Maori youth was committed to Borstal for a year. For presenting a loaded firearm at another person, a Maori youth was fined £2. On a charge of having received stolen property, a youth was admonished and discharged. Two girls were placed under the supervision of the .Child Welfare Officer for two years on theft charges.
