RED CROSS MATTERS PAHAUTEA-KAHUTARA MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Pahautea-Kahutara sub-centre of the Red Cross Society held its annual meeting at the Kahautara School, when Mrs J. C. Bidwill presided. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: —President, Mrs J. C. Bidwill; vice-presidents, Mesdames C. Pearce, D. C. Collins, H. C. Playle; secretary, Mrs S. G. Grant; committee, Mesdames Ness, Ross, Pottinger, Pope, Warren, Miss Dimes, Miss Warrington, Messrs McKay, Juno, Bargh, Collins, Grant, Rendle and Playle. Certificates for Home Nursing were presented by Mrs Bidwill and the V.A’s. were given their outdoor uniforms. Mr D. C. Collins will take the V-A’s. for drill to enable them to compete for the cup given by the Nurses’ Association. Personal Items. Requiem Mass was said at St, Ter- 1 .esa’s Church yesterday ior the late Sergt. Pilot John Henry Lawson. The Rev. Father L. Evatt, S.M., of Silverstream, was the celebrant. The service was very largely attended. Mrs W. A. King, Waingaio, and Mrs J. George, are the guests of Mrs H. Lawson. COSY THEATRE “BALL OF FIRE.” Tonight’s .programme will be headed by “Ball of Fire,” an excellent .comedydrama, featuring .Gary and Barbara Stanwyck.
