TINUI

DANCE LAST NIGHT PRESENTATION TO SOLDIER. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a large and representative gathering in the Tinui Hall last night when a dance was held in honour of Private S. Hay, son of Mr C. S. Hay, of “Benmore.” Splendid dance music was supplied by Mr J. Barnes’s orchestra and the duties of M.C. were capably carried out by Mr E. Schofield. Mr S. Schofield, chairman of the District Patriotic Committee, spoke briefly. Lieutenant R. S. Pilmer presented Private Hay with a cheque on behalf of the residents of the district and wished him success in the future. The recipient suitably acknowledged the gift and the remarks made by the speakers. Supper was served by the ladies of the district.
