THE RUGBY GAME

MASTERTON CLUB'S ANNUAL MEETING. A AND B GRADE TEAMS. The annual meeting of the Masterton Football Club was held in the Y.M.C.A. rooms, Masterton, last night. Mr R. Ward was in the chair. Prior to the commencement of business, those present stood in silence for a few moments as a mark of respect to the memory of club members who had died while on active service. Mr Ward, in moving the adoption of the annual report, congratulated the committee on the successful running of the club last season, and on the satisfactory balance sheet. He also congratulated the B team on winning the championship in the Wairarapa Rugby Union’s B grade competition, and the A team on being runners-up in the A grade. It was decided to again enter teams in the A and B grades, the coaches to be Messrs J. Dwyer, R. Braggins and J. O'Brien. Officers were elected as follow:— Patron, Mr A. McDonald; president, Mr G. W. Sellar; vice-presidents, Messrs E. Pickering, W. Whiteman, W. G. Lamb, W. Fly, W. Percy, D. Pauling, M. Fly, C. Larsen, G. Ward, J. W. Thornton, Senr., T. Peet, Stowe, A. J. Snelgrove, M. Nola, H. Fellingham, F. B. Pickering, F. Youle, F. Groube, J. Kennedy, I. Harvey, L. J. Taylor, L. T. Daniell, M. Manson, R. Read, J. M. James, F. Lusty. Grabvac, G. Cormick, R. Ward, G. H. Perry, J. W. Buchanan, W. H. Long, L. Wilton, E. Selby and Dr. L. J. F. Taylor; secretary-treasurer, Mr J. Dwyer; club captain, Mr R. Wilton; trustees, Messrs M.. Fly, M. Manson and J. Dwyer; committee, Messrs A. C. Denby, H. Fellingham, A. Batty, M. Munn, L. O’Shea, R. Laing, A. Duley, M. Mangam, and the club captain and three coaches. A vote of thanks was passed to last year’s officials. The annual report stated that lan Percy ,a former club official and now in the Middle East, had donated a special cup, to be awarded to the most consistent player. The cup was won last (season by Brian Gill. I Several new members were elected.
