LABOUR PARTY
MASTERTON BRANCH ANNUAL MEETING. There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Masterton branch of the Labour Party. Mr A. Cretney presided, and gave a short resume of the year’s work. The attendances at meetings had been good, despite the many calls on members’ time in emergency and war work. He congratulated the branch on its sound financial position. The election of officers resulted: — President, Mr A: Cretney; vice-presi-dent, Mr J. Connors; secretary-treasur-er, Mr R. Read; executive, Messrs J. Robertson, Wellington, Woodley, Hubbard and L. Hunter; delegates to L.R.C., Messrs E. McCord and R. Read; trustees, Messrs D. and L. Finlayson and L. Hunter. Mrs J. Robertson was appointed the branch delegate at the annual conference. Mr K. Gunn, the retiring secretary, was accorded a hearty vote of thanks and appreciation fori his services. Mr J. Robertson, M.P., gave a short address and explained some detail questions. There was some discussion on the enrolment of men in camp in New Zealand, the general feeling of the meeting being that men and women serving in the forces should be enrolled in the district in which they were domiciled at the time of joining up. It was decided that the executive consider the remits for annual conference and report at the next branch meeting. It was also decided that greetings and best wishes from the annual meeting be sent to members of the branch serving overseas.
