MUNICIPAL BAND ENJOYABLE PICNIC. (“Times- Age” Special.) The Carterton Municipal Band held its annual picnic on Sunday in the grounds lent by Mr Jas. Callester, Swamp Road, Carterton. It was a most successful gathering, there being a large attendance. The following were the results of the sports held: — Best cricket score: Boys, Malcolm Green 13; girls,. Joyce Lyster 10. Little girls’ race: Phillis Rouse 1, Nola Falkner 2, Colunibine Hall 3. Little boys’ race, Stewart Hall 1, Rex Falconer 2. Rodgers 1, Morris Parker 2. Chain-stepping (ladies), Mrs W. Spooner 1; men, W. Hall 1; children, N. Brooks 1, L. Spooner 2. Mr G. A. Vincent donated the cordials for the picnic. Messrs W. Hall, Ron Falkner, Len Parker and W. Spooner rendered excellent service in connection with the gathering. The band is particularly indebted to the ladies’ committee who so generously provided refreshments. ORDER OF DRUIDS TOTARA LODGE MEETING. Totara Lodge No. 3, United Ancient Order of Druids, met last night, Arch Druid Bro. H. J. Bassett presiding. Declarations off the sick funds of the lodge were received from two members after which the sum of £l4 19s 4d was passed for sick pay. It was reported that Bro W. Webb, who is in the Greytown Hospital, was making satisfactory .progress and would shortly leave the institution. D.P. Bro W. Fryer was installed into office by Past District President Bro A. J. Dew. Visitors from Stonehenge Lodge, Masterton, and Fernleaf Lodge, Greytown, were present. At the conclusion of the business the visitors were entertained at supper. The fact that Grand Lodge had amended the Lodge rules making members on reaching the age of sixty-five years exempt from further payment of contributions, was received with satisfaction. Personal Items. Mrs M. A. Teal, of Garrison Street, will attain her 95th birthday on Thursday. She is still hale and hearty. Mr and Mrs Geo. Steven, who had spent a holiday at Paraparaumu Beach, returned to Carterton last night. Mr Fred Jackson. Senr., who had been an inmate of. the Greytown Hos- , pital, has been removed to the Masterton Hospital for further treatment. Bowling. The Wairarapa championship pairs contest, to be played under the juris- 1 diction of the Wairarapa Centre, will take place on the Carterton green on Saturday next, commencing at . 9 o’clock. < Windows Broken. Last evening some irresponsible person or persons broke the windows in the shops of Mr T. G. Underhill, plumber and tinsmith, and Mr R. Leith, engineer. REGENT THEATRE “MY LIFE IS YOURS.” The programme at the Regent Thea- ; tre tonight is headed by the thrilling drama, “My Life Is Yours,” featuring Lew Ayres, Lionel Barrymore and Laraine Day.
