WEDDING

JOBLIN—HOLDSWORTH. A quiet wedding took place at St. Matthew’s Church, Masterton, on Saturday afternoon, when Ellen Marion Speedy, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs Sidney Holdsworth, of Sussex Street, Masterton, was married to Kenneth Frederick, younger son of Mrs Joblin and the late Mr F. Joblin, “Waiomio,” Gladstone. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Vernon Joblin, of Raetihi (brother of the bridegroom). The church was beautifully decorated by friends of the bride. Mr H. Miller Hope presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked charming in a wedding gown (which had been worn by her mother) of cream taffeta with a Honiton lace overdress. She wore a string of pearls, the gift of the bridegroom, and hei* tulle veil, which was caught to the head by a wreath of orange blossom, had been in the family for many years. Mrs J. C. Hazeldine, of Hamilton, was in attendance as matron-of-honour and was frocked in cream satin cut on mediaeval lines. Both bride and mat-ron-of-honour carried lovely sheath bouquets. Mr William Perry, Masterton, was best man. The reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. Among the guests were relatives from New Plymouth and Christchurch. Mesdames Holdsworth and Joblin received the . guests, the former wearing a midnight blue floral georgette‘dress and the latter a gown of violet velvet. Both carried posies to tone. When Mr and Mrs K. Joblin left for the south the bride wore a green herringbone Harris tweed coat and skirt with nigger-brown accessories. Their future home will be at “Waiomio.”
