SUPPORT FOR GIRAUD
MESSAGE FROM NOGUES. REGARDED AS SIGNIFICANT. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.10 ALGIERS,. March 19. General Nogues, in a congratulatory message to General Giraud, declaiea that General Giraud’s speech went straight to the heart of all Frenchmen in Morocco and added: “The effect on the population is considerable: Your words answer us with clarity questions put by many among us on the meaning of your mission and also the political future of France and unity oi the French Empire under your leadership. The French people , are again fighting against the enemy.” It is pointed out that General Nogues’s testimonial to General Giraud’s policy is significant as coming from one who opposed the American landing at Casablanca and who had never previously publicly disclaimed Petainist loyalties.
