Egg Rationing.
No eggs were available to stores and fruiterers in Masterton. today. Hospital E.P.S. A resolution was passed by the Wairarapa Hospital Board yesterday afternoon expressing satisfaction with the working of the hospital E.P.S. organisation. The board expressed its deep appreciation of the work of all concerned in a recent emergency. Bridges on Rimutaka Hill. In response to a request by the North Island Motor Union that the five bridges on the Rimutaka Hill section of the Masterton-Wellington highway be widened, the chairman of the Main Highways Board has stated that it is not possible to proceed with this work at the moment. Patriotic Committee. At this morning’s meeting of the Patriotic Committee a report was received from the women’s branch of the Navy League which is to hold a shop day in aid of the funds on Wednesday, March 24. These ladies would be very pleased to receive articles for sale which could be regarded as souvenirs. The Women's Patriotic Committee also reported that it was arranging for a parcels day and later for a White Elephant day. The committee responsible for the arrangements for a demonstration and rodeo at Solway on March 27 reported that the Maoris would welcome visitors with hakas and action songs. There would be a sheep, dog trial exhibition, horse jumping, mounted musical chairs, a display by the Interhouse girls, and other attractions. It was hoped that a Marine band would be in attendance. It was decided that the prices for admission would be gate Is, grandstand Is, half price for children.
