PIONEER SETTLER
DEATH OF MRS JANE VILES. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mrs Jane Viles, whose death occurred at Featherston on Monday at the age of 93 years, came to New Zealand with her parents (Mr and Mrs R. Bright) in 1855. In 1867 she married Mr Josiah Viles in Wellington, and took up her residence on the Rimutaka farm. Of a family of 12, seven are still living. Mi- Viles predeceased his wife some 12 years ago at the age of 92. The funeral took place from St. John’s Church, Featherston, after a service conducted by the Rev. J. R. Higgs. The nail-bearers were Messrs W. J. Viles' Apiti, W. F. Viles, Colyton, A. V. Viles, Greytown, S. S. Viles, Cheltenham, A. E. Viles, Masterton. and Ser-geant-Major J. S. Viles, Featherston.
