WAR DAMAGE
REDUCTION IN INSURANCE RATE REVIEW PROMISED IF SITUATION CONTINUES TO IMPROVE. PAYMENTS FOR BEEF & DAIRY PRODUCE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. “If the situation continues to improve, then the whole question will be reconsidered,” asid the Prime Minister (Mr Fraser), replying to a question by Mr Goosman, when the House of Representatives met at 10.30 this morning. Mr Goosman had asked whether, in view of the improvement in the war situation, it was the Government’s intention to consider a reduction in the war damage insurance. A request that New Zealand farmers should receive similar prices for beef to those paid to producers in Britain and Australia, to stop the declining production of beef cattle in the Dominion, was made by Mr Polson in a question to the Minister of Marketing (Mr Barclay). Mr Polson also asked for increased butterfat prices to enable the labour reward to the farmer, promised by Mr Nash, to be secured. After formal business had been disposed of, Mr Fraser moved the adjournment, to enable a discussion of manpower problems.
