Grass Fire.
The Masterton Fire Brigade received a call at 11.55 a.m. today to a grass fire which had broken out near the West School, in an area adjoining the railway line. The brigade soon put the fire out. Serious Charge. On a charge of having presented a loaded gun at another person, a Maori juvenile was remanded in custody to appear in the Masterton Magistrate’s Court on Friday. He appeared before Mr L. J. Taylor, J.P., in the Masterton Court this morning. National War Savings. In connection with the National War Savings Campaign at present being undertaken, arrangements have been made for Mr A. C. Cretney, a member of the Masterton committee, to broadcast a short talk on the need for saving now to spend later.
