LANDING IN EUROPE
BY ANGLO-AMERICAN i FORCES DECLARED BY MOSCOW TO BE IMMINENT. GERMAN PEOPLE WARNED. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.5 a.m.) LONDON, March 15. The Moscow radio last night warned the German people that an Anglo-American landing in Europe was imminent. Dr. Breening, the Berlin radio’s political commentator, declared that: “Germany is getting ready for gigantic assaults.” The Moscow radio said the German High Command knows that a landing is coming—this is shown by the systematic evacuation of the coastal areas of France, Belgium, Holland and Norway. London newspapers, advocating an immediate second front, are claiming that if Hitler can stabilise his front in Russia, his next blow will be to the west. A “Reynolds’ News” military correspondent says all the evidence points to the conclusion that Hitler is fighting to hold a defensive line in the East, and will not launch a new offensive against the Red Army this spring.
