Miss Low, Dunedin, is the guest of Miss E. Low, Essex Street, Masterton. . Mrs Guy, Hastings, is staying with her sister, Mrs D. B. Carrick, Upper Plain. Mrs N. Gooder, formerly of Masterton, is a visitor to Masterton for the weekend. Miss Braithwaite, Carterton, is the guest of the Misses Brown, Church Street, Masterton. Major R. G. Drummond, 36th Survey Battery, Middle East, son of Mr and Mrs R. C. Drummond. Lansdowne, will be the chief speaker over 2YA tomorrow morning, at 9 o’clock, when talks will be given-by New Zealand soldiers who are overseas. The death has occurred at Hataitai of Mr Ira Spencer Lord, who was born in the Selwyn district, Canterbury, over 82 years ago. He worked on his father’s farm till he married in 1883. He then settled in Hawke’s Bay, where he spent 40 years as a farmer and horticulturist. He went to Wellington in 1921, and was employed as a wool classer by the Gear Meat Company till 1939, when he retired.
