GREYTOWN
DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL MEETING OF COMMITTEE. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the committee of the Greytown District High School reference was made to the success of the an-, nual swimming sports, and the headmaster, Mr Shedden, was congratulated on the efficient manner in which they had been organised. . , It was reported that in the agricultural area potatoes had been dug and over 5 tons disposed of. A vote of thanks was passed to those who had helped to dig the potatoes and also to Mesdames Sheddon and Reid, who had provided afternoon tea. Mr Pickard was also accorded hearty thanks for valuable assistance given in connection with the swimming. The proposed extension of the playing area was discussed and members decided to inspect the grounds before arriving at a decision. The provision of emergency doors in the corridor was discussed. This matter has been under consideration for a considerable time, the members of the committee considering congestion in the corridor would certainly take place if a sudden evacuation of the scholars became necessary. The secretary was instructed to write to the Wellington Education Board requesting that the provision of emergency doors be. given consideration. Personal Items. Advice has been received from Scotland that Lieutenant Roderick McLeod, formerly of Featherston, has been promoted to the rank of Captain in . the Black Watch. Mr E. Shimmins, of Wellington, is -the guest of Mr and Mrs A. G. Peterson, Main Mrs J. Langley is at present on a holiday visit to Wellington. TOWN HALL “THE CORSICAN BROTHERS.” The sensational drama, “The Corsican Brothers,” will head the programme tonight, starringg Douglas Fairbanks Junr.
