PRESUMED LOST
BRITISH SUBMARINE OVERDUE. CAPTAIN’S FINE RECORD. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.20 a.m.) RUGBY, March 11. The Admiralty announces that the submarine P 311 is overdue and must be presumed to be lost. The P 311 was commanded by Commander R. D. Cayley, D.S.O. and two Bars, who was one of the outstanding captains of the present war. He sank 69,000 tons of Axis shipping in fifteen months. He also torpedoed an Italian cruiser.
