FATAL INJURIES
MASTERTON MAN’S DEATH ACCIDENT AT WAINGAWA LAST NIGHT. | INQUEST OPENED AND ADJOURNED. A fatal accident occurred near the intersection of the main road and Norfolk Road, Waingawa, at 7-30 o’clock last night, when Isaac John Hardley, married, aged 52 years, of Masterton, died from injuries following a collision between the cycle he was riding and a motor car driven by Mr E. C. Brenkley, also of Masterton. Mr Hardley died on his way to the Masterton Hospital. At the time of the accident he was cycling along Norfolk Road with a friend. An inquest was opened in Masterton this morning before the District Coroner, Mr L. J. Taylor, and following evidence of identification by Mr W. L. Harrington, manager of Messrs Jones and Joyce, Ltd., plumbers, for whom Mr Hardley worked, the inquest was adjourned sine die. Mi* R. McKenzie watched proceedings on behalf of Mr Hardley’s widow.. • The late Mr Hardley had resided ijr Masterton since last June. He saw active service in the New Zealand forces during the last war. The funeral will leave Hyde’s Chapel, following a service at 3 p.m. tomorrow, for the Masterton cemetery.
