ARMS PRODUCTION
EXPANSION IN UNITED STATES. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.10 a.m.) RUGBY,-March 10. The United States Under-Secretary for War, Mr Patterson, stated yesterday, according to a Washington message, that the United States production of arms, munitions, supplies and installations was now 300 per cent to what it was a year ago. He said industry would fulfil the 1943 programme, which envisaged an expenditure totalling 57,000 million dollars. He said that nearly two million high explosive shells of ail calibres were produced in February, and 419,000 bombs of all sizes, including “block-busters.” The programme also included 7,800 weaponbearing combat vehicles. January and February combined had seen the production 'Of 5,000 tanks, over 28,000 Army trucks, 2,000 anti-tank guns, 150,000 machine-guns and 134,000 sub-ma-chine-guns.
