CRIPPLED CHILDREN
MEETING OF WAIRARAPA EXECUTIVE. REPORTS ON ACTIVITIES. At the last meeting of the executive of the Wairarapa Crippled Children Society, over which the chairman, Mr E. M. Hodder presided, it was decided to make arrangements, as expeditiously as possible, for operations to be carried out in respect to several crippled children. Tentative arrangements were made for another boy to proceed to Te Aute College. A considerable number of letters expressing thanks to the society for Christmas ifgts were received from children. It was decided to send letters of thanks to the Masterton Printing Co., the sub-committee which selected and forwarded Christmas gifts, an anonymous donor of 15 jars of honey and the Wairarapa Hospital Board for its promise of assisting a case. Three new cases were reported during the month. Positions had been found for two girls and two boys and further positions were required, it was stated, for two girls, preferably in shops or offiCCS. The Wellington branch of the society wrote expressing its thanks to the Welfare Officer for arranging for several Wellington children to have a holiday in the Wairarapa. It was stated that it was hoped to arrange for a clinic to be held locally in the near future. Nurse Craig was granted three months’ leave of absence from the executive, as she would be away from Masterton during that period. Accounts totalling £l2 17s 5d weie passed.
