SOLWAY-MANAIA ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS. ELECTION'OF OFFICERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) . ... The annual meeting of ‘the (Solway - Manaia Women’s Institute was held in the Epiphany Hall yesterday. Mrs Diamond presided over a small attendance of members. A number of apologies fdi' absence 'were received and a new member whs Welcomed by the president. The treasurer (Mrs Wollett) presented the balance sheet, which was read and adopted. The'annual report was read by the secretary, Mrs Groombridge, and adopted. It was decided to support the proposal to hold the Dominion conference this year and to send a delegate. The president thanked members for their co-operation during the year. The following were the results of the competitions:—Best bloom, small, Mrs Webber 1, Mrs Carr 2, Mrs Cotton 3. Large bloom, Mrs McMullen 1, Mrs Carr 2, Mrs Scrivener. 3. Annuals: Mrs Carr 1, Mrs Allen '2, Mrs Sutherland 3. Flower brooches: Mrs Webber 1, Mrs Diamond 2, Mrs Cornick 3. Raspberry .jam, Mrs Henderson 1, Plum jam, Mrs S. Allbn 1. The following officers were -elected for the ensuing year:—President, (Mrs Munn; vice-presidents, Mesdames Henderson and Mrs Scrivener; secretary, Mrs Groombridge; treasurer, Mrs Woollett; committee, Mesdames Carr, Cornick, Dornan, Thompson, 'Wbb'ber and McGovern. Mrs McAlister was the winner _ of the potato competition. The weight was 301 b, grown from three potatoes. The hostesses for the April meeting will be Mesdames Catton, Curry, Carr and Cornick. The roll call is -a novelty necklace to be made at home and worn. The competitions for April will be: Best bloom, geranium, and decorated basket; cooking, 'apple tart on saucer; sewing, best article from flour bag.
