ROTARY CLUB
DISTRICT GOVERNOR VISITS MASTERTON. NOTABLE LUNCHEON GATHERING. The District Governor of Rotary, Mr F. Hall-Jones ,of Invercargill, visited the Masterton Rotary Club today. In honour of the occasion, a ladies’ day was observed at the club’s luncheon, which was held in the Y.M.C.A. rooms, there being a particularly large attendance of members and friends. The president, Mr J. H. Cunningham, extended a hearty welcome to the district governor and to the ladies and other visitors. Among the visitors were Mrs E. A. Christie (Wellington), sister of the District Governor; Wing Commander R. C. Ayling and Mrs Ayling; Mr and Mrs E. J. Heffer; Colonel R. N. Pepper and Major E. A. Wright, of the United States Marine Corps; Mr V. E. Donald; Mr P. A. Smith’ells, superintendent of physical education; Mr G. W. Stubbs, senior inspector of schools, Wellington area; Mr W. O'Connor, inspector of schools, Wellington area, and Mr L. L. Cordery, Christchurch Rotary Club. A report of the district governor’s address appears on page 2. Mr Hall-Jones was accorded a hearty vote of thanks, on the motion of Mr S. ,L. P. Free, who said Rotarians had seldom listened to a more stirring address.
