REGENT THEATRE
■ “MRS MINIVfcR.” Heralded as an outstanding film, “Mrs Miniver,” based on the famous book by Jan Struther, will be shown tonight at the Regent Theatre. This portrait of an English family defying the menace of Nazi brutality, going through bombings and sending its menfolk into peril, has a quality which will make it long remembered among films, and the excellent cast which was gathered for the production interprets the theme faithfully and with that added something which comes from sympathetic understanding. Greer Garson has the role of Mrs Miniver, Walter Pidgeon is her husband, and the two young people in the story are Teresa Wright and Richard Ney. Dame May Whitty has a role right into her hands as the aged head of a noble family with which the Minivers become, allied. The supporting programme includes newsreels and a number of topical subjects. ■
