(To the Editor) Sir: —May I support Mrs Collie’s objection to the reference made by Mr Atmore to the Guards. On September 16, 1916, many New Zealanders saw the Guards in action and those of us who were there considered it a very high honour to have our steadiness in attack compared to the Guards Division. It is interesting to remember that in 1913 General Freyberg was a young practising dentist in New Zealand. Five years later he was a senior officer in His Majesty’s Grenadier Guards—l am., etc., H. H. DANIELL.
