FEATHERSTON
APPEAIfe FOR FUNDS FOR PATRIOTIC PURPOSES. . (“Times-Age” Special.) A well-attended meeting was held in the Wairarapa Racing Club’s office last evening, in connection with the 1943 patriotic appeal. Mr J. W. Card, who was in the chair, explained that the general patriotic anneal was for the purpose of raising funds for helping service men at home and overseas, including prisoners of war, and to provide parcels. Mr and Mrs Cassidy were added to the Patriotic Committee. The following collectors’ committee was appointed: —Messrs R. P. Hardy, R. W Fuge, J. C. Bidwill, Chas Buck, W. H. Sadler,- P. A Wilton, A. R. Robbins and R. W. Matthews. It was decided that the weekly patriotic dance be conducted for the benefit of the anneal, and to charge ladies 2s instead of Is for admission. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Sharp, Shepherd, Lawson, P. Williams, Pearce, Miss Card, Dr Sharp, Messrs H. Lawson, Chas. Buck, C. Pearce, A. S. Kilsby and F. S Hayes. Personal. Mrs H. Hunt, Levin, is on a short visit to relatives here. Sharp Earthquake. A sharp earthquake was felt here shortly after 1.30 o’clock this morning. COSY THEATRE TWO BIG ATTRACTIONS. Two big attractions will be shown tonight —“Adventures of Martin Elder” (a thrilling story of the South Seas) and “The Royal Mounted Patrol” (an excellent drama, with Charles Starrett in the leading role.
