Reports of inspectors from various , parts of New -.Zealand showed that i many retailers were failing to complj 7 with the provisions of clause 16 of the Control of Prices Emergency Regula- , tions, amendment No. 3, said Mr Jus- [ tice Hunter, president of the Price Tribunal, yesterday. This, said his , Honour, provided that every retailer . who sold goods the subject of a Price • Order must keep a copy of the Price ; Order, or a statement of the prices ; fixed thereby, prominently displayed in his shop, so that customers might : freely consult the Price Order, or state- | ment, without having to ask for peri mission to do so. ; The information that price orders . had been made was now advertised - extensively in the newspapers, in addition to being usually referred to in the '■ news columns. The regulation became law on December 15, 1942, and as retailers had now had ample time to make themselves familiar with its provisions and arrange to receive copies of price orders from the Government Printer, or their trade associations, prosecutions were being instituted in respect of breaches. The attention of the public, specially housewives, was also drawn to the provisions of the regulations which enl abled them to ascertain easily the ! maximum prices for the large propor- • tion of goods now the subject of price i orders, of which approximately 120 had been issued,
