Mrs Newman, Renall Street, Masterton, is visiting Christchurch. Mr and Mrs N. McKay, Cornwall Street, Masterton, are visiting Paraparaumu. , Mr H. J. Thornton has completed 21 years’ service as secretary of the Nelson Education Board. Mrs L. Moore, Eastbourne, is spending a few days with her sister, Miss Baird, Pownall Street, Masterton. The many friends of Mr J. Robertson, Member for Masterton, will regret to learn that he is confined to his bed through illness. The first award of the Conspicuous Gallantry Medal to a member of the Royal New Zealand Air Force overseas has been made to Flight Sergeant Leslie Bruce Wallace, R.N.Z.A.F., formerly of Pareora, South Canterbury, states official advice received from London by the Air Department at Wellington. The Conspicuous Gallantry Medal has a high place in the list of medals awarded for gallantry and distinguished conduct, and, therefore, carries with it a high honour for the recipi-
