PARK CLUB NEW ZEALAND v. OVERSEAS MATCH. SUCCESSFUL PAIRS TOURNEY There was an attendance of over fifty bowlers at the Masterton Park green on Saturday. Ewington After the observ- ’ ance of a respectful silence, the presi--5 dent unfurled the Fred Davie memorial flag. The eagerly awaited Overseas v. N.Z. tourney again proved a triumph for the latter, who won 71 of the twelve games. ’’ Two games of fifteen ends were played, 1 and resulted as follows (New Zealand 1 players being mentioned first in each “ case): —Wiltshire, Osborne, Burke, H. Totals: NZ., 7| games, T - 167 points; Overseas, 4-1 games, 150 : points. 7’ In the first tourney the N.Z. teams 1; won Bof the 12 games, and with a total 2 ; of 151 games to 81, they become the i,’ first holders of the cup allotted to these >- tournaments. On Friday afternoon, the Borough team, comprising O’Hara Smith, McCord, G. Brown, R. Simpson (s), 18, 1- drew with the Park staff, Trevorrow, y Griffiths (P. Buckley, sub.), Braggins, Knowles (s), 18, after a very interesting game. On the last end Simpson was one up on the board, and lying three, ,i until Braggins trailed the kitty to the ditch to equalise the scores. d' Trevorrow defeated Moore, 25/16, in the handicap singles. ,’ During the week-end another very successful progressive pairs tourney - was held, attracting an entry of 24 players. The green was rather slow for a start, but improved during the r afternoon. Kilgour, with 4 wins, won ’■ the skips’ section on the aggregate from G. Brown, thereby retaining the cup, whilst the leads’ section was won 2 by W. Edwards with four wins. Resuits are: —Skips: 4 wins, Kilgour (58 , points), G. On Tuesday next, Palamontain and Freeman, of the Masterton Club, will play Carr and Osborne in a challenge match for the Mutrie Cup, whilst on Saturday the Masterton colts will try conclusions with the Park colts for the Wall Cup. MASTERTON CLUB FOURS COMPETITION GAMES. On Saturday afternoon the Masterton Bowling Club’s greens were fully occupied, when, two rounds in the club fours competition were played. Visitors from Auckland, Gisborne, Nelson and the American Marine Corps also participated in the games.
