BIG DIVIDEND
RECORD AUSTRALIAN ODDS 2800 TO ONE. WIN BY SOL-STAR AT FLEMINGTON. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 1.5 pm.) MELBOURNE, This Day. Odds of nearly 2800 to one, an Australian record, were established when Sol-Star won the Stanley Plate at Flemington on Saturday. Only eleven 5s totalisator tickets were taken out for a win and 38 for a place. The win ticket holders collected in the vicinity of £7OO each, and the place ticket holders in the vicinity of £6O each. The world’s biggest dividend of about 3400 to one was paid when Coole won the Saturday Hurdles at Haydock Park, England, on November 30, 1929. Sol-Star was making his third run and had little form to recommend him, and his jockey, W. Caldow, was having only his fourth ride.
