WEST SCHOOL
PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION annual meeting. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Masterton West Home and School Association last night Mr F. Jestin presiding. The annual report, which was adopted, expressed appreciation of the excellent service rendered to the association by Messrs V. Burridge, A. G. Swinn, H. Dugdale, V.. Welch and N. Hoar, who had resigned during the year through military and other duties. There was a 'credit _ balance of £lOB 10s 6d, and in addition the committee had handed £25 to the headmaster of the school for the purchase of craft equipment for the school, and had acquired the necessary crockery and equipment for use at school gatherings. The committee had arrangements in hand for the installation of a radio set to be linked up with loudspeakers throughout the school. The installation was expected to be completed at an early date. The membership was 57, and the committee expressed the hope that all parents and supporters of the school would become members and assist in promoting the welfare of the school and pupils. The committee expressed appreciation to the “Times-Age” for having published reports of the meetings and activities of the association. The school committee were also thanked for their co-op-eration, and gratitude was expressed to parents for their support, and pai - ticularly in connection with the gala day which had proved so successful. The- following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr F. Jestin; secretary, Mr J. Hayward; treasurer, Mrs Shepherd; general committee, Mesdames H. Dugdale, L. T. Wright, A. Gilliland, J. Hayward, Way, J. Renner, Messrs J. Keltie, C. R. Goudge, H. L. Esau, V. Welch, E. J. Esler and S. Taylor. Mr Farrell, the headmaster of the Masterton West School, thanked the Home and School Association for the excellent work carried out in the interests of the school, and for their hearty co-operation with the staff in every project which was of benefit to the school. He congratulated the . association on its successful operations during the year and on the splendid spirit shown in assisting in the progress of the schodl and the welfare of the children attending the institution.
