RED CROSS SOCIETY
HEAVY DRESSING GOWNS. SPLENDID RESPONSE TO APPEAL. The secretary of the Wairarapa Centre of the N.Z. Red Cross Society has received a very appreciative letter from Miss T. E. Lissington, secretary of the Wellington Proviencial Committee of the Joint Council, for the splendid response to her telegram asking for heavy dressing gowns to fulfil an urgent order. Thi appeal was met by the Hospital sewing group of the Masterton subcentre, who supplied 29 heavy dressing gowns in one week, and by Mrs J. Andrew, county districts sub-centre, who forwarded five. Owing to the heavy nature of the work which had to be done by treadle machines, the sub-centre has now installed an electric machine to cope with future appeals which the district is likely to be called upon to answer. This will be much appreciated in making the thirty-five dressing gowns to be completed.
