SWIMMING LOCAL CLUE’S SPORTS. (“Times-Age” Special.) Despite unfavourable weather conditions on Monday evening there was a fair attendance of the public and a large gathering of competitors at the swimming sports held by the Carterton Amateur Swimming Club. The results were as follow: — 50 yards ladies’ handicap: A. Sorensen 1, A. Fairbrother 2. 25 yards junior boys’ handicap: D. Forbes 1, R. Goodin 2, B. Hemi 3. 75 yards intermediate boys’ race: L. Spooner 1, B. McPhee 2, N. Desmond 3. 25 yards senior race: P. Bond 1, B. Desmond 2. Junior dive: L. Spooner 1, P. Bond 2, B. McPiiee 3. 25 yards junior girls’ race: A. Fairbrother 1. Relay race: A. Fairbrother, L. Hemi, B. McPhee, H. Sullivan, 1; D. Forbes, B. Hemi, R. Goodin, A. Booth, 2. BOWLING CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS. Games in club championships were played at the weekend as follows: — Progressive pairs: Clark and Riggs (s) beat Colson and Lorensen (s), 23/19; Fess and Tucker (s) beat Spooner and Edwards (s), 29/20. DeLacey Buttons: McCarty and Newbould (s) beat Colson and Daysh (s), 22/16. P. & A. Society. i A meeting of the general committee of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society will be held in the association’s offices on Saturday next at 10.30 a.m. Personal. Mr and Mrs P. L. Beere have returned to Carterton after a holiday spent in Taranaki. Constable Gillies, of Carterton, is at i present on his annual holiday. REGENT THEATRE ‘•JOAN OF PARIS.” The brilliant French dramatic actress, Michele Morgan, will be seen tonight in the thrilling story of Germanridden France, “Joan of Paris.” Paul Henreid and Williafn Mitchell are also in the cast.
