MR GAVIN LONG APPOINTED fi GENERAL EDITOR. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) CANBERRA, February 16. The War Cabinet has appointed Mr Gavin Long, defence correspondent qf the “Sydney Morning Herald,” as general editor for the official hstory of Australia’s part in the present war. To enable the earliest possible completion of the history the editor himself will write not more than two volumes, relying largely upon other writers for the completion of the work. Mr Long was a war correspondent in France and in the first Libya and Greece campaigns. Aged 42, he is a son of th? late Bishop Long, who was first chaplain and then director of education with the first A.I.F.
