RED CROSS SOCIETY ENJOYABLE CARD PARTY. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a good attendance at the card party held by the local sub-centre of the Red Cross Society yesterday afternoon. Mrs Carlyon was the winner at cards. Competitions were won by Mrs Baker and Mrs McKenna. Donations were received from Mesdames N. Matthews, McKenna and Viles. Personal Items. 1 Miss Wylie, Masterton, is now attached to the relieving staff of the primary school. Mrs J. B. McKenna, Petone, and Mrs A. Evans, Lower Hutt, were the guests of Mrs J. S. McKenna, Wakefield Street, during the weekend. Mrs C. Pittams, Taumaraunui, is visiting Mrs McKenna. Mr and Mrs Ron Moore, Christchurch, and Mrs Blacklock, Auckland, are the guests of Mrs Fred Moore. Bowling. During the weekend a number of games were played by members of the Featherston Bowling Club. In the singles championship H. Rolls beat H. B. Bloxam. In the pairs championship G. O’Neale and J. Thompson beat J. Higgison and B. Fuge; G. O’Neale and J. Thompson beat W. Elder and W. Higgison. In a pairs progressive tournament J. Thompson won in the skips’ section, H. McNamara being runner-up. In the leads W. Chaston was the winner and W. Elder the runner-up. COSY THEATRE “A YANK IN THE R.A.F.” Tomorrow night’s programme will be headed bv the thrilling drama, “A Yank in the R.A.F.,” featuring Tyrone Power and Betty Grable.
