WOMAN STABBED

NAVAL RATING SENTENCED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, This Day. Richard McQueen, the young naval rating who stabbed a woman taxi-driver on the night of January 7, was sentenced by Mr Justice Kennedy in the Supreme Court, Dunedin, yesterday, to reformative detention for five years and six months. '* The judge said that in the prisoner’s own statement he had taken a sheath knife with him to intimidate the taxidriver, whether man or woman. Fortunately, the victim made a good recovery. “There seems neither rhyme nor reason in your action, which was one of sheer foolishness and wickedness,” added his Honour.
