LATE MISS J. MCGREGOR

FUNERAL IN MASTERTON YESTERDAY. GREAT DEVOTION TO DUTY. The funeral of the late Miss Janet McGregor, of Upper Plain, took place in Masterton yesterday, there being a large and representative attendance of district residents to pay their last respects. The service at the McGregor Hall and that at the cemetery were conducted by the Rev. David McNeur. Mi’ McNeur said it was strange that circumstances had caused the funeral service to be held in the McGregor Hall, which was a memorial to the McGregor family. He spoke of the late Miss McGregor’s fine character, her honesty and uprightness, and of her devotion to duty as a nurse and matron, especially in her years of service as matron of Riverton Hospital. She also showed her devotion to her father by caring for him in his last illness, which extended over a period of six years. Many beautiful wreaths were in evidence, including those from the following:—Members of Registered Nurses’ Association, Wairarapa branch; members of Knox Bible Class, Knox Session and Managers, Knox Social Guild and P.W.M.U., chairman and councillors of the Wairarapa South County Council, and Wairarapa P. and A. Society. The pall-bearers were Messrs D. Storkey, B. J .McGregor, W. McGregor and E. F. Wilson.
