ANTI-WAR FEELING
GROWING IN ITALY NAZIS TIGHTEN THEIR GRIP, TROOPS POURING OVER BRENNER. PASS. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) LONDON, February 10. More German troops, including armoured vehicles, are pouring over the Brenner Pass into Italy. Though stated to be intended for strengthening coastal defences, they are actually arriving at Milan, Turin, Naples. Spezia, Genoa, Bologna and Venice, all of which have suffered from R.A.F.'s or the Royal Navy's heavy blows, says the “Daily Express” correspondent inside Europe. “The Italians have relinquished control of the motor road's north and south and only persons holding passes signed by the German authorities may use them. Failure of the Fascist regime to control the growing anti-war feeling has resulted in this new German invasion. The Italians, unlike the German public, know the facts of the Russian disaster, and are aware of the loss of their African empire. In addition, failure to safeguard the population from air raids and chaos caused by hastily organised evacuation have produced violent reactions.
