COUNTY AFFAIRS

SOUTH WAIRARAPA COUNCIL CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH. APPOINTMENT OF NEW COUNCILLOR. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Wairarapd' South County Council today was presided over by Councillor F. Court. There were also present: Councillors J. K. Strang, L. S. Gallon, R. O. Rayner, E. W. Allen, A. E. Reid, M. J. McGregor and A McGregor. The treasurer's statement showed a credit balance at the bank of £8,867. The Carrington and Taratahi water race overseers’ reports were read and adopted. The sanitary inspector’s report stated that there had been no cases of infectious diseases during the past month, the county generally having a clean bill of health. Mr F. G. Davidson was given permission to instal a pipe bridge across the water race on his property to enable him to take machinery for cultivation purposes across the water race. The proposal to provide an ambulance for use in the borough and county was further discussed. Councillors generally not being favourable, the proposal was left in abeyance for further consideration.

The appointment of Mr Crawford Francis Cameron as a councillor for the Mangaraki Riding in place of Mr C. A. Cameron, resigned, was confirmed. The new councillor will take his seat at the council table at the next meetfog.
