WOMEN’S INSTITUTE COMPETITION WINNERS. , (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a good attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Women’s Institute. Mrs Albretchsen presided. Two new members were elected. The secretary read two letters from soldiers overseas who had received parcels from the Institute. The president and the secretary were appointed delegates to attend the annual Council meeting to be held in April. Nominations were taken for the Federation Council election in April. Mrs Albretchsen was unanimously re-elected president for the ensuing year. Twelve members were nominated for the committee. It was decided that the Glee Circle should go into recess. Mrs Mannell, of Masterton, showed a variety of articles made from old felt hats and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for her interesting display. Mrs Cope, a visitor from Havelock North Women’s Institute, spoke on her impressions of the Coronation. The competitions resulted as follows: —Premier bloom: Mrs Albretchsen 1, Mrs Baucke 2, Mrs T. D. Oliver 3. Three flowers: Mrs Fauvcl 1, Mrs T. D. Oliver 2 and 3. Collection of vegetables: Mrs B. Morris 1, Mrs C. Farrow 2, Mrs T. D. Oliver 3: Slice of Christmas cake: Mrs B. Morris 1, Mrs Albretchsen 2, Mrs R. Farrow 3. The hostesses were Mesdames R. Farrow,?. Fauvel and F. H. Bauke. Personal. A successful candidate at the public service entrance examination was Thyra Evans, of Eketahuna.
