In reply to representations of public bodies and business interests in Pahiatua, it is reported that the Transport Department has refuged permits for the resumption of road services to and from Pahiatua. It has been contended that the rail service is totally inadequate, and in the case of Palmerston North a return trip cannot be made in one day. The Pahiatua Borough Council, Chamber of Commerce and the local branch of the Farmers’ Union have decided to approach the Minister of Transport and delegates from these bodies will visit Wellington next week.
