STOPWORK MEETINGS. TO DISCUSS UNION MATTERS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) „ AUCKLAND, February 9. Stopwork meetings Were held at five of the six mines in the Huntly district this morning and the one at Pukemiro, which continued till -about 11 o’clock, resulted in the mine being idle for the day. There was no meeting at the Renown mine, but at the Rotowaro, Alison. Glen Afton and MacDonald collieries, brief meetings were held, the men afterward starting work. When interviewed tonight, the secretary of the Northern Miners’ Union, Mr T. Hall, said the meetings were arranged at the four mines mentioned to finalise union business which would be submitted to the Waikato Mines Control Board tomorrow. With regard to the Pukemiro miners, he could only say that something further must havearisen to prolong the meeting, but as far as he knew it was nothing serious. He understood that delegates from Pukemiro were to come to Huntly tonight to discuss matters with the union executive.
