TIRAUMEA

WOMEN’S DIVISION FIRST MEETING OF YEAR. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the first meeting of the year of the Women’s Division of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union, Mrs Harman presided over an attendance of 23 members. The competitions were won as follows: —Best wagon cover from flour bag: Mrs Wallis, 1; Mrs Harman Senr., 2. Best gladioli: Mrs Harman Senr., 1. Wandering shilling: Mrs Wallis. Amusement competition: Mrs Welsh. Mrs Harman referred to the impending departure from the district of Mrs Welsh and presented her with a cake plate on behalf of the members. The division, she said, regretted very much the loss of Mrs Welsh as a member. . The hostesses were Mrs Lindegreen and Miss M. Wright. Home Nursing. In the local hall on Thursday a start was made in connection with the Home Nursing lessons. There was a very good attendance, Nurse Dorset, the District Nurse from Eketahuna, was the lecturer. The majority of the members present expressed their intention of sitting for the examination later on.
