QUIET VISIT
» MADE BY MR CHURCHILL TO ALGIERS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.40 a.m.) RUGBY, February 8. Mr Winston Churchill, on his way home, stopped at the Allied headquarters in Algiers, where he conferred with General Eisenhower, Mr Harold MacMillan (British Minister) and others. Bad weather delayed Mr Churchill’s departure. He stayed for the night at Admiral Cunningham’s villa. A small luncheon party was attended by Generals Eisenhower and Giraud. Mr Churchill’s vijit was known only to a few.
