ST. LUKE’S CHURPH MEETING QF LADIES’ GUILD. (“Times-Age” Special.) The St. Luke’s Church Ladies’ Guild held its first meeting for the year on Thursday afternoon. Mrs. A. York presided over a good attendance of members. A donation of 5s was received from Mrs. I. Blissett. It was decided' to send Miss Wyett, who now resides at Lower Hutt, a telegram on her birthday. A hymn book was presented to the Church through the Ladies’ Gyild, by Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Knell. The same is to be kept on the reading desk. ‘ ‘ r ' A posy of carnations, made by Mrs. Barcham, was taken to the hospital and presented to Miss Betty' Burch,'who has recently undergone an operation. Afternoon tea was supplied by Mesdames York and T. N. Smallwood.'' ’ PLUNKET SOCIETY 81-MONTHLY MEETING. The bi-monthly meeting of the Greytown Plunket Society was held in the Plunket Rooms. Those present were: Mesdames Maddison (in the chair), Everett, Burns, Anker, Gregor, York, Richards and Bunny. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Wiggins, Alexander, Haigh, Smallwood, Kiernan and Oakey. Grants qf £l5 and £lO were received from the Town Lands Trust and Grey town Borough Council, respectively. The Christmas dinner which was held to raise funds' for the Society realised £7 10s. The winning ticket was held by Master George Wiggins. It was decided to re-commence the bridge afternoons in aid of the Society’s funds. The Nurse’s report for December was as follows: Visits to home: New cases 14. old cases 26 ;< pre-school children, 17; visits to rooms, adults 14, babies 12; pre-school children, 4. The general progress was good. The supply of oranges was greativ appreciated by mothers. TOWN HALL “LADIES IN. RETIREMENT.” The excellent programme at the Town Hall tonight has for its chief feature, “Ladies in Retirement',” an outstanding drama, featuring Ida Lupino, Elsa Lanchester, Edith Bennett and Evelyn Keyes.
