QRASS FIRE SMART WORK BY BRIGADE. (“Times-Age” Special.) Another grass fire occurred yesterday afternoon at Clareville. A westerly breeze fanned the flames in l the dry grass at the rear of the Clareville School. Members of the Carterton Volunteer Fire Brigade were called out and with a plentiful-water supply from a race in the vicinity soon had the. fire under control. . Personal Items. The funeral of the late'‘Miss Beatrice Victoria Johnson took' place yesterday afternoon there being a very large attendance of mourners; Prior to leaving the resideh'ce of her’'sister, Mrs.'E. -tyl. Pink, a'short'funeral service was conductced by the Rev W. F. Stbht.' of” St. Mark’s Anglican” Church,''who afterwards officiated at the graveside. The pall-bearers were Messrs. D- Herrick. N. Herridk; 1 I. Herrick, L.‘ Smith; F.' TUtty and A.’ Teal. The large number of beautiful wreaths received testified to the high esteem in which deceased was held. REGENT THEATRE “IT STARTED WITH EVE.” There will be a splendid all-round programme at the Regent Theatre tonight, the star piettire being “It Started With Eve,” featuring Deanna Durbin.
