FEATHERSTON

WEDDING RITCHIE—DE MONTALK. (“Times-Age” Special.) A quiet wedding of considerable local interest was celebrated in St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral, Wellington, recently, when Norma Isabel, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Ritchie, Featherston, was married to Croydon Cowie, only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. de Montalk, Havelock North. The Rev. J. R. Higgs performed the ceremony. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a charming pearl grey heavy crepe-de-chine frock with grey hat and shoes, and carried a bouquet of coal pink gladiolas, carnations, and gypsophila. Miss Lois Ritchie, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid, and was dressed in an orchid pink frock with claret hat and shoes. Her bouquet was of wine-toned roses and carnations.

Mr. H. Goble, Lower Hutt, was best man.

On leaving the church the bride was presented with a beautiful pink and blue floral horse shoe by Miss Eva Card.

A reception was'held at the Midland Hotel. Mrs. Ritchie, who wore a grey suit and hat, was assisted by Mrs. de Montalk, who was attired in a navy frock and hat, in receiving the guests.

Later, Mr. and Mrs. de Montalk left for the north, the bride wearing a very smart lido blue ensemble with hat to match and a handsome fur stole, the gift of the bridegroom. Their future home is at Lower Hutt. Croquet, The C_ championship of the Haunui Croquet' Club has been won by Mrs. Wilson. Mrs. Allan was runner-up. In a match for the A Buttons, played yesterday, the holders, Mrs. Watson and Miss Nix, lost to Mrs. Saunders and Mrs. O’Neale (Featherston), 12/26. . Escaped Damage. After the many recent severe earthquakes it is not uncommon to see marks of damage upon public buildings. The residents of Featherston, however, are pleased to find that not the slightest damage was suffered by the soldiers’ memorial, which is surely a tribute to the skill of the local builder. Personal. Mrs. C. J. Carlyon is visiting Eastbourne, where she is the guest of Mrs lan Carlyon. COSY THEATRE “FEMALE CORRESPONDENT.” Tonight’s excellent programme at the Cosy Theatre will be headed by the brilliant drama “Female Correspondent” in which Herbert Marshall, Virginia Bruce and Gene Reynolds have parts particularly suitable to their acting abilities.
