As there are no more meetings in the lower part of the North Isand for a week or two track work at Opaki this morning was confined to steady exercise. Most of the hordes trained at Opaki worked the opposite way round on the plough. Gamble and Olein, members of T. R. George’s team, who were saddled ,up as winners at the Pahiatua meeting at Otaki on Saturday, appeared to have benefited by the outing. Cheerful Lady, who was considered an unlucky runner at the 4 Pahiatua meeting, looked as if .the trip had not done her any harm. Olein, Gamble and Kentucky will most likely make the trip to the Woodville meeting this month. Indian Sign Booked for a Spell. Indian Sign, a Bulandshar—Countersign bay gelding, has been turned out for a six months’ spell. Indian Sign’s initial perform- . ance this season was a second to Moutoa Bond over 6 furlongs on the first day of the Wanganui Jockey Club’s meeting last September. On the second day of the meeting Indian Sign won the Wanganui Guineas, of one mile. Since then Indian Sign -has not been in the money. Programme for The Champ. ' ; The Champ, who was not started at Welington on account of a leg injury, will probably go to New Plymouth for the Flying Handicap and the Taranaki Stakes: He is a probable entry in the Thompson Handicap at the Wellington Racing Cub’s autumn meeting on March 13. Home Rule Working Again. Home Rule, a Hunting Song—Tipperary Girl bay gelding, has resumed work after a spell. Home Rule proved a great disappointment but as the youngster was growing fast tho spell will probably make a world of difference.
